October 29, 2012—Manila, PHILIPPINES. Despite the approaching national holidays for the observance of All Saints Day in the Philippines, the Avian Business Unit of Merial Philippines, Inc. managed to conduct its 2nd Merial Poultry Technical Conference. The event was held at Grand Ballroom of Vivere Hotel and Resorts in Filinvest, Alabang on October 29, 2012. A total of 72 participants attended the event. The participants are mostly farm owners, private practitioners and farm managers from different parts of the country.
The focus of this year’s conference is to provide the Philippine Poultry Industry valuable technical information with actual farm reports on Complex Respiratory Disease problems that commonly persist in the local scenario. In his 2nd time as resource speaker, Dr. Francisco Perozo discussed in details all the studies he and his colleagues collaborated through several years in the study of Newcastle Disease (ND), Infectious Bronchitis (IB) and Infectious Laryngotracheitis (ILT) as primary causes of the respiratory problems encountered in poultry farms both locally and from a global perspective. Dr. Perozo is a Professor from the College of Veterinary Medicine from the Zulia University in Venezuela, and he has done extensive research works at the University of Georgia. In addition to this, our Regional Technical Manager for Asia, Dr. Michael Lee, decided to impart updates Vaxxitek HVT+IBD through actual data from different farm and integrator operations from across the globe.
Generally, the 2nd Merial Poultry Technical Conference was a success. Participants are very thankful of the knowledge they gained. With the continued support showed by our customers and known people in the local poultry industry, this event will surely not be the last.
